Week 8 - MKTG 3349- Pinterest
There are different types of Pinterest Ads some include:
- Standard Ads: Looks like a regular post and can easily blend in with other post. Will feature a "Promoted by" tag,
- Shopping Ads: Which are very similar to standard ads but they feature a "buy" button so it encourages users to click on it and then takes them to the businesses website.
- Idea Ads: They are a mix of videos, images, and text all in one single post. According to Pinterest they states that these ads are nines times more likely to receive engagement that other regular pins. (Chillingworth)
Overall, Pinterest is catching the eyes of many businesses for its cheaper PPC cost averaging around $1.50 compared to Instagram who charges around $3.56 (Martin). I believe that majority of users user Pinterest with the intent of purchasing something or "window shopping". Therefore, businesses have a higher chance of their ads succeeding than on other social media platforms where users can get much more distracted. Pinterest also makes it very simple all you need to do is create a business account, create an ad/choose your objective, and fill your basic campaign details. Instead of having to merge accounts like other Ad platforms you can track all your campaigns performance on Pinterest's ads manager. (Chillingworth)
