Week 6- Mktg 3349 - The Courtney Quinn Interview



    After graduating university it can be difficult to understand what you want to do professionally. Some go back to their part time jobs until they find a full time in their specialty and some individuals pursue a different path. Courtney Quinn has shared some of her work experience and tips that will become useful for individuals who need more help finding a job. She has stated that internships are a great ways to get yourself knowledgeable about the industry as well as create connections and learn hands on. Personally, I have always had a difficult time learning in schools due to my short attention span and having a hard time retaining information. Therefore, I pursued many internship opportunities and that is where I was able to learn the most. She states that if internships are not possible then you can open your own Shopify store. This is a great tip although I did have internships it was really hard to compete against other candidates. By opening your own store individuals will have to learn how to sell, market themselves, and use other resource all on their own. Shopify has many resources like tutorials and help mods that will provide ecommerce's with the right foundation to succeed. If you are like myself where academics is not your strength Courtney tells us that having a strong team work ethic will help us succeed. She has also had the opportunity to be in many leadership position although being in male dominated industries. This shows me that if you work hard, continue to invest in yourself by taking certification courses and learning more about new trends you will go far.

Week 1 - MKTG 3349 - Introduction

      My name is Samantha Ortiz and I am majoring in business administration with a concentration in digital marketing. I am currently taking MKTG 3347 as well with Professor Kelsey; where I have learned more about AI and the importance of LinkedIn. I look forward to learning more about AI and about search engine marketing. I do have some experience with SEO as I took a simulation course via Semrush. But I could always learn more about the use of keywords; and how to accurately use certain tactics.               AI has become so apparent around the world it is imperative that we become knowledgeable about this industry and the use of technology. Search engine marketing is also very well used; I am very interested in learning about how algorithms are used and how small businesses can use this style of marketing. The knowledge I will receive from this course will be beneficial for courses I will take in the spring.
