Week 4 - MKTG 3349 - Impacting Images
Visuals have been around us for centuries, and companies have used them in the form of logos to promote their business and make themselves unique. As technology continues to grow we see a greater influence of visuals on social media platforms. The most popular content almost always has an intriguing picture or video that easily grabs the attention of users. Visuals are used in Marketing to tell a story and help with branding. Visual marketing is very impactful in many ways, for example: it provides corporations with a much affordable way to market, it can reach many different users around the world, and it increases the business's social media engagement. (Georgiadis).
Why are visuals so important?
According to Prince Ghuman "a third of the brain is dedicated to vision which means that visuals highly influence human perception".(Ghuman). So the best way to catch a consumer's attention is by providing good engaging content. Google has released a resource called "Google Lens" in which users can simply take a picture, and receive information almost instantly about that item or thing. If corporations are often providing great visuals they are much more likely to see an increase in traffic and reach other potential buyers. Instagram is a great example on how good pictures can be impactful for a business. Many business do partnerships with influencers who make great content in order to catch the eyes of many followers in hope of them purchasing their own. Most of the time it does work, and truly if the content is captivating I find myself being influenced into making random purchases. Amazon has also implemented a video sharing platform where Amazon consumers can share products they buy and gain capital on how many people use their link to purchase some item.
